ASCE Pittsburgh Section Awards

ASCE Pittsburgh Section recognizes projects, people, and employers for their achievements and contributions to the Section and civil engineering practice. These awards are celebrated during Engineers Week. National Engineers Week is an annual event to raise public awareness about engineering and the contributions that engineers make to society. Help us celebrate engineers and showcase the work they do!

Student Awards Foundation

Congratulations to the 2020 Student Awards Foundation Award recipients!  

AMERICAN BRIDGE LEADERSHIP AWARD

Isabel Lee

School/Year: University of Pittsburgh, Junior

Major: Civil Engineering

Activities: ASCE Student Chapter President, Ohio Valley Student Conference Balsa Wood Bridge Team Captain, Pitt Engineering Ambassador. Member of Pitts Society of Women Engineers and Pitt Women's Rugby Club.



ITALO V. (ODY) MACKIN ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Greta Markey

School/Year: Carnegie Mellon University, Junior

Major: Civil & Environmental Engineering / Engineering and Public Policy

Activities: ASCE Student Chapter member with roles as Class Representative, Vice-President, and President. She is also CMU CUT Music Magazine Copy Editor, Human Resources Director for Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Club Water Polo member CMU Community Garden volunteer, and has been involved in three undergraduate research projects.


ASCE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Andrew Thompson

School/Year: Carnegie Mellon University, Junior

Major: Civil & Environmental Engineering / Engineering and Public Policy

Activities: ASCE Student Chapter member with roles as Student Representative, Treasurer, and Vice-President. He is also CMU Orientation Leader, Tartan Scholar Ambassador, and is an active member in the CEE Diversity and Inclusion Committee, National Society of Black Engineers, Dancer Symposium and undergraduate research.

About Student Awards Foundation

The ASCE Pittsburgh Section’s Student Awards Foundation presents cash awards to students each year for the American Bridge Leadership Award, Italo V. (Ody) Mackin Achievement Award, and ASCE Achievement Awards. These awards recognize outstanding civil engineering students preparing to be future leaders of the profession.

Thanks to the donation by American Bridge, Mackin Engineering Company and all the generous contributions from the ASCE membership.

Applications for the 2020-2021 SAF awards are Due January 11th. Hard copy and electronic submissions accepted.  See Application Form for details.
